| Barbados | Week-long trip Posted: Tue September 27, 2011 04:45 PM UTC
Hey everyone,
I won two round-trip tickets to anywhere in North America/The Carribean and I think I may bring my brother to Barbados. I'm 29, he's 27. We're from Montreal so we're used to a pretty good nightlife, and I was wondering if there is enough of that to last us a week (I really am not too familiar with the island). Also, I'd love to rent a car and explore the island, how many days would it take, approximately, to cover the entire thing? I've driven on the left before (in Bermuda, Jamaica and Australia) so no problems there. Are there a lot of opportunities to hike? We're not huge fans of surfing or diving so we'd be staying on the mainland mostly. |

How many days to drive the island...um...1 ..its really not that big!its about 35 kilometers long and not even that wide
There is Mount Hillaby to climb/hike in St andrews..but thats the only hilly bit really I think..its mostly flat but there should be some good walks through the foresty bits to go on Since you have yet to choose an area for your stay you should look here for ther nightlife scene and make your hotel choice from then on really if that what you are into http://www.totallybarbados.com/barbados/Entertainm or http://barbados-guide.info/activities/nightlife/ There is also Harrissons caves to see http://harrisonscave.com/ hope you have a great time on Barbados...I will never forget my visit and would go back in a flash if I could

Barbadoes is great, beaches, water tempeture, cricket, Turtle soup and flying fish meals, caves, nightlife, Mount Gay and Hawkspur rum, Banks beer, weather. rent a Mini-Mok and it is easy to tour the Island, just make sure you stay on the right (left)side of the road!
Make a trip at night to the Observatory and view the stars.

Great choice. I would live there if I could afford it. You will want to stay on the west side if you want night life. We did the Crane Beach for our stay, but we are 50 something and like the quite. I would look around Holetown as for our second trip we planned to stay there half and go back to Crane for half. However, we never made that trip which is a long story. As stated the island is not that large. I don't think I would rent a car the entire time, but just get one for a day or two when you really want it. You must do Ostins Fish Fry, which I think is on Friday nights.

Hello
I have been to Barbados many times and some of the other Caribbean islands. To my mind Barbados is by far the best but by no means the chaepest. As for nightlife try to stay on the South Coast. That way you will not be far from St Lawrence Gap (the Gap)where you can probably party the night away every night of the week at a different place. Also the Harbour Lights is a great nightspot not too far away. Yes rent a car. But as someone has already said maybe one day will let you see the whole island, but two days would be a bit more leisurely. As for hiking there are many guided hikes if that is what you want. Have a look at http://hikebarbados.com/. Don't forget to look out for the green flash at sunset. Enjoy Barbados

Everyone who has replyed pretty much said it all. For your party life you want to stay near the Gap.Lots of bars and clubs eats. Friday night check out Oistins Fish fry at the market there. Harbour Lights and down in Bridgetown near the Warehouse is another bar.For seeing the island I'd say 2 days minimum. Don't rush to see the island.
You have the beaches,Harrisons Caves,Mount Gay Rum Tours,Animal Flower Cave.Signal Station, Wild Life Reserve,St.Nicholas Abby,Scotland District, and near Harrison Caves is Welchman Hall Gully.Check out all the coasts and especilly Bathsheba on the east coast, and the rock formations in the water.
