Cycling in Shanghai

Need some friendly VT advice: I am unsure whether to take my folding bike while visiting Shanghai and environs... Is it possible to cycle sedately along the Bund or Pudong Riverside Promenade, Century Promenade etc. or will the local gendarme take issue? Don't want to inconvenience or anger the locals!
Any advice, as always, highly appreciated.

Hi

I was walking on the Bund the other day and saw that bicycles were not allowed during the day
Other places should be fine
Although keep in mind that all places are very crowded (people qnd traffic !!)
Have fun !!
It is my last day in China, tomorrow back home ：-（

I have biked in Shanghai but not in the tourist areas like the Bund. The most important thing to remember in China is that many drivers take the right a way even when it is illegal to do so. Taxies may think so because they make a living driving, people with cars may think so because they have the money to buy a car. Anyway, be very careful biking and even walking across the street with a green walking sign.

Go for it and have some fun! Keep an eye on your bike, they are colletors items and no riding along the Bund, but as a Westerner they may take leniency on you! Have a good time!!
