travel lake bled to trieste

We need to travel by public transport from Lake Bled to Italy on 27 December and have to arrive in Lucca on 28 December. We were hoping to overnight in Trieste on 27 December but finding direct route from Lake Bled is problematic. Can anybody help with any suggestions? Would it possible to catch overnight train and go to Lucca, rather than stopover in Trieste?

Any help would be appreciated thanks

Hello there,

If you need to be in Trieste then you can take a train from Bled Jezero to Nova Gorica, bus over the border to Gorizia, then train to Trieste. A few changes, but not hard. Just need to be aware of the holiday timetable.

If you want to go straight to Lucca, take a train from Gorizia through Venice to Firenze I guess, then another train to Lucca. Shouldn't be a problem at all.

but you may have to wait for updated timetables.

If you want to take the trip from Lake Bled to Ljubljana there is a van service that will take you to Mesttre/Venice from Ljubljana--a four hour trip for approximately $25 per person. From there you can take the train directly to Lucca through Florence about a three to four hour trip depending on the time and service.
