in februari 2005 we will go to curacao.
my husband wants to buy a new digital reflexcamera.
probably the nikon d70. it is a new one you can buy it in the netherlands from march 2004.
do you think it will be cheaper to buy it in curacao.
are the camera's cheaper here.
what other things are cheaper here to buy?

I think you should buy the camera before you go. Curacao is a small island, and as such everything has to be imported. This makes things fairly expensive. Anything that you can bring with you, you should bring with you, with the obvious exception of food. And don't forget to stock up on batteries!!! Those tend to cost a fortune there!

I tend to disagree with the first reply you received. While the point of everything being imported is correct at the moment cameras are relatively inexpensive over here. You can get deals as good as in the US. The only difference would be mail ordering in the US without paying the local state taxes.
Cameras will be cheaper than in europe even if you buy it tax free at Schiphol. Most new models are carried by the local stores but do not expect to find all the models.
