Travel from Koper to Pula, Croatia

Our cruise ship is stopping in October in Koper. We would like to visit Pula, Croatia if possible. It seems it is about 1 1/2 hours away. What is the best way to get to Pula to see the sites?

It is probably more than that - I went from Koper area to Porec which quite closer than Pula just two days ago by my car. It was definitely more than 1 1/2 hours, in particular that I got into a traffic jam.

With the cruise and since there are two of you probably rental car is the safest way... if there is no jam. If you get into jam, you are stuck with bad luck. You will need safely entire day to allocate and expect that all downtowns are closed to the traffic.

Yes, I would definitely suggest a tour to nearby Postojna Caves\Predjama Castle, or maybe Skocjan Caves and Lipica. Also the coastal towns of Izola, Piran and Portoroz. Anything further than that is too time consuming! :)

You are right, Susan. Sometimes less is more - I wanted to see Pula, Banja Luka and return back via Osijek - I landed up "just" seeing Porec and Beram. Sitting in the car all the day and pushing the gas is not the ideal way of a short vacation.
