AMAZON RIVER Ecuador-Peru and Brazil...
Posted: Mon February 2, 2004 10:31 PM UTC
I there. I intend to head to South America in late July, August and 2 weeks in September.
My question is:
which should be the best to do in the Amazon river? Can I actually enter the Brazilian border by boat from Peru? Can I get from Coca (Ecuador) in the Napo River until the city of Iquitos after passing the Peruvian border?
How can I get to Ecuador from Brazil in the most inexpensive way possible?
Any help on this matter will be great. Thank You very much.
Cheers
john

Hi John,

The cheapest and longest way will probably be to bus it via Bolivia and Peru.

A slightly more expensive, but amazing way of doing it is to take a boat from Coca, Ecuador to Manaus, Brazil. There may not be direct boats, but you can take it in segments. You'lll probably pass Leticia, Colombia and Inquitos, Peru. I haven't done this boat trip myself, but did came in contact with several that did it. All agreed that the best way to do it is form Ecuador heading downriver to Brazil.. It's faster this way.

suerte,
Fernando
PS: I want to do that some day so let me know if you go with it.
