Cheap, central accommodation
Posted: Mon February 2, 2004 01:04 PM UTC
Please can anyone recommend any cheap, clean, accommodation with a fairly central location? I do not want to spend more than 130 euros per room for a double room. I have looked at Locanda Al Portico and Casa Cavanella - so if anyone has any experience of staying in these hotels your comments would be very welcome!
Thanks, Claire

Hi

Try www.eurocheapo.com for some options.

We stayed at Albergo Doni, which is only a few mins walk from St Marks Square. We had a basic but large room with a view of a small canal. Staff were friendly.

Enjoy Venice!

There's a hostel called Ca' Venezia which is close to San Marco.
It is cheaper than what you wrote, the staff is nice and the rooms are like mini-studios with small cooking facilities.
Some brazilian friends of mine stayed there and liked it a lot.
You can book it online on hostelsclub.com.

I would heartily recommend Albergo Guerrato, 1 minute from the Rialto Bridge. 800 year old building with pleasant, economical rooms. Roberto and Piero Caruso are very friendly, helpful hosts. Calle drio la Scimia 240a, telephone 041 522 7131.

Hello,
what do you think about this:
-private accomodation with independent entrance
-recently restored apartment
-living room with sofa bed, bedroom with double bed, fully equiped kitchen
-bathroom with shower
-250 m from Grand Canal
-for up to 4 people
-price: 35/45 EUR per person a day
-1st floor (aqua alta-high water never comes)
If you think that you might like it, here is the phone number: +39 3292133565
