Cheapest is to fly. Check out Qantas and especially Virgin Blue websites.

I saw $49 Sydney - Canberra on Virgin Blue in the paper, Jen, which is why I thought it HAD to be the cheapest!

Amazing isn't it. it's what they're calling
MidWeek Mini Fares. The same ad. has Cairns for $169, Christchurch & Wellington both $199, Perth $179. it's cheaper than walking!
