public transportation in Estonia and Latvia

I'm interested in traveling to Estonia and Latvia in the fall, late September or early October. I think about visiting Tallinn and Tartu in Estonia. In Latvia, I'd like to visit cities nearby Gauja Valley, such as Cesis and Sigulda, and the capital, Riga. It seems that there is a good public transportation system connecting the above cities. Are the buses and trains connecting the above cities all year around? I also wonder if it is feasible to visit all the above places in 10 to 12 days traveling by the buses and trains.

Hi.

I recomend to go better to North-East in Estonia. It is one of the most attractive and interesting regions in Estonia - lots of interesting places, towns etc.
Narva city and castle + Ivangorod castle and river between them, bastions.

Around town of Johvi: Kuremae orthodox nunnery - only in whole Baltic states!!! Valaste waterfall, Toila searesort (park, cave...)
Very beautiful. Better then Tartu. Good bus connection.

Hi,

10-12 days are more than enough for Estonia and Latvia. Sigulda is fantastic. Cesis is a small nice town - I would not say it's anything special. Riga is great place. Buses should be in operation for the whole year.
But bear in mind that weather can be not really nice.

Hi,

Weather can be pretty different but it's not the best time of the year. I would suggest you to be ready for anything - cold and rain as well. Last year the first week of October was sunny with temperature +10-+13 C and one year before it was cloudy with some rain and T=+7-+10 C.

I had a wonderful trip! Public transportation in Estonia & Latvia is very organized, reliable, clean, safe and super easy to use! People are warm, kind and very helpful! I'm sure you will have fun there too!
