Who ever it was will be found out if they start using it in your area--that is if you are the only vt member around your area.
I wonder what they will do with it!!!!
Hope you get another one.

Goodness Louise! That's shocking! I wonder if that person might find this post and own up. Hopefully you'll get a new one soon.

Amazing that someone would do that; no chance it's a prank by an aquaintance knowing you're on VT? How about (and this has happened to me) the sorting machines in the Post tore the envelope and the postman didn't notice?

I had a VT cap swiped from the counter of a carhire company in London, Sept 06. It's amazing what people will pinch.
My first small group tour was with Travel Indochina in Cambodia and Vietnam many years ago. They handed out T shirts with the usual company identification. I remember being told that these were much prized on the street within the tour guide community ( added credibility).

Probably someone hoping for valuables. He/she has likely dumped the flag in the nearest trash bin.

Possibly, the envelope opened enroute and the flag just fell out. I received mine today and the envelope was already opened. Maybe it's just a batch of envelopes with weak glue.

I bet you Giampiero and Daniel and Courtney and all are sitting around the conference room table saying, "Hey, what's this extra VT flag doing here?" ;-)

Well I think that flag has very little value unless you are a VT member
So who knows what could have happened to it
An empty envelop my goodness that is really weird
Well try again and if it happens again then we have a serial VT Flag thief on our hands eh

I really think it's to do with the VT envelopes as I received one also that was barely stuck down. The flag likely just fell out.

We have a lot of mail theft around here (people looking for addresses, utility bill account information, credit card account statements, phone numbers and anything else to use in identity theft operations, etc.). They always steal everything including the envelope so that it is less obvious that something was stolen - and it is quite some time before it is reported missing.

"As there is no worldly gain without some loss so there is no worldly loss without some gain."
Thus... verily...walk gently, then, on rice paper, in a pair of dry flip flops, otherwise you rip it, believe you me... and be at one with the air, the flag now flies free... in space that also wafts your hair too....

Re: Stolen Post Posted: Tue May 17, 2011 07:39 AM UTC
It was probably the customs that partly opened the enveloppe to see what's inside and then the hole was just too big, so the flag fell out in the distribution process.
When I received mine ages back, there was also a big slit in the enveloppe but I was lucky because mine hadn't fallen out.

I know of two people, where it was merely the poor glue on the envelope, so it's more likely just that. Customs mostly xray first and a small flag would hardly attract attention.

no, mine was opened on the side, nothing to do with bad glue.

Hi and thanks for all your comments, the funny ones are priceless. The envelope was definitely torn open. I will need to investigate further and yes look around my area to see who else is flying the VT flag and steal it back...

It was probably our old postman...he was stealing things for years..and keeping them in his house...what a nutter....he even stole 2 of the same deliveries for us which were spark plugs he could not use unless he had a Buell and headlamp bulbs...we blamed the poor guy at the dispatch...felt so sorry for him after it turned out to be the postman that we sent him a bottle of wine....
I hope you get a new flag soon and that the VTers get some better envelopes!

I sent a nice package to my friend in Manchester for her baby's first birthday in february. It was a really cool fox puppet. Well, it never showed up! I'm wondering if times are so hard in the UK that they're opening overseas packages in hopes of finding stuff they can sell on the blackmarket. >:(

kids,,,who would really want to fly a VT flag to hold or fly around? If I was a detective, it's criminal mischeif. Value???? who else would appriciate a VT flag but our members? kids that do not know better. To bad the postal service won't investigate this federal case like they use to.
