acropolis guest house. Plz go to Plaka Area on the Syntagma Square and ther you'll find many good guest houses in cheap prices.

sharon i think it depends a lot on your budget. May be something which u call cheap budget is still moderate buget for others and then u can find a better room.

In guesthouses, it depends on you which type of room u r looking for. You have various choices. Most of the guest houses are cheaper than 1 star hotels so they are 2-3 Euros cheaps than 1 star hotel.

I still remember that me and my friend paid 35 Euros for a double bed room in November 2003 while staying in Acropolis Guest house for a night. Try to bargain a little bit. such as ask them to give u some discount and they might reduce 5 euros or atleast 2 ! ;)

If u are looking for something really cheap such as a hostel type,then u should personally explore the area and alley's around plaka and old turkish quaters in athens and then u'll see many cheap guest houses as well around 15-30 Euros.

Try Marble House Pension at 35A Zinni. It is about 2 blocks from the Sygrou/Fix metro station or you can get the nr 1 bus from Syntagma Sq. to get there. It is in the Koukaki neighborhood and you can easliy walk to the Acropolis and Plaka from there. The hotel is reasonable and clean in a neighborhood of apartment buildings so it's quiet too.

We stayed at the Student and Travellers Inn, in Plakka, which is Athens oldest area. Its right underneath the Acropolis.and very close to ancient Agora.....Its cheap, clean they have all types of rooms from dorms for up to 4 people as well as private single and double rooms (which we stayed in) with their own facilities. I would definately stay there again. Have a great trip (~_~)

I went once to "Cecil hotel" -39, athinas str, phones 0030 210 3217079-, that is 5mins. by feet from plaka
and once to "athens center hotel" - 26 sophocleous&klisthenous str tel 0030 210 5248511-
ten minutes by feet from plaka. they are not more expensive, but very good.
