Should I plan 2 or 4 nights staying in Havana?
Posted: Thu March 3, 2011 01:43 PM UTC
Hi I've just booked a 2 ctr stay in Cuba in June this year. The holiday is split between an AI beach resort in Guardlavaca then staying in Havana. I can stay 9 nights in Guardalavaca beach resort and 4 nights in Havana or 11 nights and 2 nights respectively. I have 2 teenage daughters with me and believe they would choose more days at the beach resort, however I have heard Havana is a very interesting place and so feel i should pull rank and opt for the 4 nights stay. What do my fellow VTs believe?

Havana is indeed very interesting. I spent a week there and loved it very much. A teenager would probably like to stay on the beach than being adventurous to explore around the city. I spent a lot of time walking around. But you can certainly see the major sites in a couple of days. Vinales is scenic and can be done as a day trip from Havana.

Two nights wouldn't be long enough for me. I spent eight nights there and loved it.

Hola

I would opt for the 4 night in Havana as the opportunity for them to see this historic city again as it is may not happen.

There is a hop on hopp off bus that you can take for $5 CUC each and valid all day long. I would take one each day even if just to make the full route. (takes 1 hr 30 to 2 hrs depending on which one) You can stay as little or long as you like at any of the tourist sites.

Click on the routes at the bottom of the page and you can print the schedules and routes of

Not sure where you are staying but some of the hotels have roof top pools that can be paid for for the day if not at the hotel. So the girls can get some sun time in too.

Walking Habana Vieja, Vedado or Centro or the malecon will be interesting enough for teenage girls as well.

If you come to Cuba, and leave without visiting Havana city, it's like you never been here! So, my advice is to visit Havana for a few at least.
Best wishes.
