Barbados Travel Forum

Hi. My husband and I plan to travel to Barbados for the first time in April. We are considering Villas on the Beach in Holetown or Maxwell Beach Villas near Oistins and St Lawrence Gap. Can anyone help with pros and cons of each location? Thanks so much!!!!

Villas on the Beach has almost everything on the doorstep. The buses stop right outside the door or across the road depending on which way you are travelling. Shops including a supermarket are right across the road. There are several reataurants in the immediate area. The beach is a little stony for a couple of yards at the edge but is fine once you are in the water. A hundred yards a way is the Surfside bar and reataurant which to my mind makes the best rum punch on the island and they have a happy hour at around sunset. A great place to see the "Green Flash" (look it up on Wikipedia). The only downside is that it is on a busy main road and may get a bit noisy. It is about 40 minutes from the airport.

I am not familiar with Maxwell Beach Villas. However Maxwell Beach is a superb beach and is quite close to Oistins for the fish fry on a friday night. For a first time visitor the Oistins fish fry is a must. Maxweel beach road is away from the main road so is fairly quiet but means a ten minute walk for buses. A hire car would be useful here.
