| Szczecin | Szczecin-Przemysl Posted: Tue January 20, 2004 04:47 PM UTC
I'm planning a trip from Germany to the Carpathians (Ukraine) to spend a week or two there.
Could anyone please tell me what kind of train is Szczecin-Przemysl? Is it InterRegio or Express (if it's not the same)? Is the Weekend Ticket (Bilet Weekendowy) valid here? Is it practical to purchase the Weekend Ticket for this connexion (if available)? What are the ticket prices for different types of coaches on this line? By the way, what types are there? If Wars sleeping carriages or couchettes are concerned, should one purchase two tickets (for both the sleeping carriage and train tickets) or it's "two in one"? What about bed linen (does the ticket price include the charge for that)? If extra, how much? A lot of questions. Thank you in advance. |

Hi,
Express train is slower than Intercity(Inter Regio) train. If you decide to travel during the day than there will be no couchettes. If you will book an IC-intercity or EX-express train with a departure after 6 p.m than most of the time there will be couchettes available, for which you will have to pay a supplement; the bed-sheets are included in the price. You are free to pay only the train-ticket and buy a couchette-place in the train it self. My advice would be: buy the train ticket and the couchette-place at once. Sometimes there are ONLY couchettes and than you are obliged to pay ticket and the couchette. More details you can find on : http://www.pkp.pl/en/indexen.html Pls, notice also: WARS has 2 meanings: 1)a restaurant-carriage 2)a couchettes-carriage. Have a nice trip :-) Bozena

Hi.
I would like to add... Szczecin and Przemysl are very beautiful cities. Visit their old towns-they are worth visiting! See my page of Szczecin: http://www.virtualtourist.com/m/4ed60/730bd/ :)

Hey,
There are two direct trains. One on the day - Szczecin Dep. 06.30, Przemysl - arrival - 19.31. There are 1st and 2nd class cars in the train. Prices - approximately - 60 PLN (2nd class), 80 PLN (1st class). The night train (Szczecin 19.00 - Przemysl 09.30, daily except Sat.) has both 1st and 2nd class cars (prices as above) as well as couchettes (6 berths - add PLN 50, 4 berths - add PLN 60) and sleeping cars (3 berths in the cpompartment - add PLN 80, double - add PLN 140 per person, single - add PLN 270). Be aware: those cars are on the same train, but operated by a different company, you cannot buy a "seating" ticket first and then decide to buy a couchette. Decide first. The weekend ticket for PLN 99 is valid for PKP IC trains, and this is a PKP PR train. You can buy their weekend ticket (valid Sat. 7.00 - Sun. 19.00) for PLN 50. It enables you to travel without limits on 2nd class of fast (Pospieszny, D-Zug) and regional trains. Happy trails, Marcin

Thanks. It's very kind of you.
I have one more question. Is there a possibility to change money in Szczecin on Sunday? If yes, where? Denis
