Im planning a trip to antigua. Has anyone been there and noticed tarantulas or black widow spiders. I was on a website i found on google and one man claimed that he saw some> Has anyone else. Please answer- im terrified of spiders

Can't recall which island, but tarantulas are nothing to be afraid of.. They're actually quite tame litttle creatures. You treat them with respect and they'll do the same, though the females can get agressive during mating season...
Black widows on the other hand tend to not be so friendly... While they don't do much unless provoked, they can do some damage. I've wandered through the brush without any issue . Though I've had to dodge some T's on my bicycle back here at home in CA..

Not all tarantulas are poisonous apparently.
Having said that, I have been to Antigua and didn't see any spiders - Little lizards and lots of birds, but no spiders. Go - enjoy - relax.

i have been to antigua 2 times and never had a problem or heard of a problem with spiders. dickenson bay is a great place to stay and i think the hotel is still called ciboney; all the people that got tired of all-inclusive sandals came down the beach to eat at a great ocean front restaurant in front of ciboney. you will have fun but stay out of the casinos because everything is not above board.

Hi, we visited Antigua last July and didn't see one spider just lizards and a few ants.
Go, enjoy, you'll have a wonderful time on this beautiful island.
