Another question- the mystery deepens

Thanks v. much for responses to the last post!

This one is exclusively about foreigners in SPb, but answers are welcome from anyone...

For anyone who ever stayed stayed in SPb for 2 weeks or more, did anyone at any time have *disturbed* sleep?

If so, what was it like and where were you staying?

Hi Bob,

I 'm not a foreigner though I had once a *disturbed* sleep in S.-P. ;-) I know this is not what you are asking, but it is interesting tip.

Some years ago I was in a business trip there and lived 2 nights in a very expensive "Astoria-Angletere" Hotel. There is a night club there on the 6th floor and if you did not fell asleep before midnight it is impossible to do it later. After that I said to myself: now I know why Sergei Esenin commited a suiside here. This is black humor of course ;(((

Seriously?!

I only stayed in a SPb hotel once, with my girlfriend. I didn't know they called your room! Is that the hotel reception or do the girlies' dodgy 'friends' just go randomly calling hotel rooms in the city??

Och aye, I've heard that Lassie and Skippy come bundled as a special offer. If your hotel has a swimming pool, they can get Flipper involved too, but his charges are astronomical, they say fame went to his head. Scary stuff- just watch 'medvezhii potselui', your suspicions will be confirmed ;)

Hard to believe they had such a cheek! Actually, come to think of it, maybe not. Saying that, I had a hilarious experience in Glasgow while I was flitting a friend to his sister's flat in Blythswood square.

Sitting by the pavement late in the evening, alone in a pickup, a number of passing girls enquired as to 'what kind of business I was into'. I insisted that I was not into any kind of 'business'. It was getting to the point where one of two particularly persistent passing girls was practically demanding to know what business I thought I had sitting alone in a car on her pavement, when my friend came out of the flat to get another armful of belongings from under the tarp in the back.

"I'll take half what you're giving him" the girl said as he approached the truck.

Actually, sometimes it's hard to tell who are the... ahem... 'ladies of the night' and who are just girls on a night out... they ALL wear short skirts, fur coats and knee boots! All of them! It scared me when I was just a 15 year old schoolgirl on a school trip!
