Dress warmly, wander the deserted streets and take some wonderful pictures of the coasline of this quaint artist village. Now, in the summer it will be wall to wall bodies....
I've not been there in the winter for a while but, unless things have changed significantly many of the shops are closed. If the Blacksmith Shop is still in business, the food is great.
You might also consider wandering some of the surrounding seacoast towns as well. The winter scenery can be very dramatic.
In addition if you want to travel a bit more down Rt 128, Salem is always a fun place to visit; summer or winter. Just less crowded in the winter.
