U2 - 360° Tour - Who has been to a concert? Posted: Sun September 19, 2010 02:34 PM UTC
Hello Everybody,
For me it looks like that quite a few VT members have been to one of the U2 shows of their latest 360° Tour which is now on since about 1,5 years and still travels to Autralia and America in the upcoming year.
So I am just interested who has been to one of the concerts or will definitely go to one of the upcoming shows.
Just last Sunday I attended the second show in Zurich (Switzerland). It was magnificent, although it rained quite a lot during the whole concert, but that added to the special atmophere. It was the first show where they presented the song "Mercy" live on stage.
Other u2 concerts I attended are:
12.09.2010 Zurich Letzigrund (360° Tour),
22.08.1997 London, Wembley Stadium (Pop Mart Tour),
12.06.1993 Köln, Müngersdorfer Stadion (Zoo TV Tour),
15.12.1989 Dortmund, Westfalenhalle (When Love Comes to Town Tour),
17.06.1987 Köln, Müngersdorfer Stadion (The Joshua Tree Tour)

FORTUNATELY they canceled this leg of they're tour here this summer and rescheduled for next summer..I say fortunately because it co-incided with time that I was spending in Europe..
I saw them play Montreal during the PopMart Tour in 1997...I think its the BEST concert that Ive ever seen....and heard!
Ill be there in Montreal in 2011 when they swing through this part of North America next..

Yeah, U2 had to postpone their North American leg of the tour this year because Bono fell off the stage or something during rehearsals in Germany. I had tickets to both Anaheim, CA concerts in June, which won't be used now till next June.
As for past U2 concerts, I've been to a bunch:
3/02/85: Los Angeles (Unforgettable Fire)
6/06/86: Los Angeles (Amnesty International)
4/17/88: Los Angeles (Joshua Tree)
4/22/88: Los Angeles (Joshua Tree)
11/17/88: Los Angeles (Joshua Tree)
11/14/92: Anaheim (Zoo TV)
4/20/01: San Jose (ATYCLB)
11/15/01: Oakland (ATYCLB)
4/01/05: Anaheim (Vertigo)
6/17/11: Anaheim (360)
6/18/11: Anaheim (360)
Only tour stop I've missed in 25 years is the Popmart Tour. Didn't like the album at all or the whole schtick that U2 put on stage for it. I saw the DVD of the tour and that was good enough for me.

Glad to hear you're a U2 fan Holger. So many people love to put this band and seem to have forgotten all their classic hits like 'Where the Streets have no Name', 'New Year's Eve' etc.
I'm ashamed to admit (as an Irish citizen), I've never seen them perform live. While I find Bono's philospher/God act tedious I can only imagine the excitement of one of their live gigs on the big tours.

Hello Katherine,
I agree that Bono should concentrate on the music instead of acting like a world changer. However, their music is fantastic.
By the way: The song you mention is "New Year's Day" and not "New Year's Eve" if I may correct you. *winkygrin*

I'm a HUGE fan and saw them a couple of years ago but regrettably will miss this tour. I'll be gutted on the concert nights. That's life. I am sure it'll be the best show ever.

Hi Holger!I saw bits of their night in Sheffield August 2009-I stood outside Don Valley Stadium, where I could see it on the screens-They sounded Great-it was a real party atmosphere outside the stadium, and friends that paid, probably didn't get as good a view! I left before the end to avoid the traffic, and got to hear the last few minutes from my garden.
I also saw them in Cleveland Ohio on the Joshua Tree tour, and at Sheffield Arena for the Zoo TV tour in June '92.

*winkygrin correction allowed* :))
But getting a word wrong on the title can't take from this song or the instant memory of the white snow edged with deep red sunset.
As a pont of information, they went to Scandinavia to record this song and by pure fluke - snow being so rare in Ireland- we got a really heavy snowfall shortly after. They could have recorded it in the Dublin or Wicklow Mountains and it would have looked just as good. They weren't as wealthy then as they are now and they must have been a bit miffed to put it mildly.

Well, as told on some other site :-), I went to the Vertigo tour in 2005 in Brussels,to the 360° tour in Paris in 2009 and in Brussels in 2010. Funny thing is,when I hear them on the radio or on CD, I think they are ok, but nothing more, but live, they are the best band ever to me!!!

Oh, and Ekatarinaburg, I agree with you on the God/philosophy state of mind of Bono that can be quite annoying, but luckily it was very limited on this tour :-)
