Should I book lodging ahead of time?

I am planning on traveling to both Caye Caulker and San Ignacio in the very beginning of April this year. I have heard that this is one of the most busy time of the year for tourists. In either of these place do I need to book lodging ahead of time or can one find reasonable places to stay (ie not too expensive) when you show up there? Also if anyone has any reccommendations of great things to do in either region or great people/guides/tours that would be awesome.

caye caulker is a very nice place and also the most inexpensive place i came across in belize.
me and a freind rented a double room on top of the local grocery store for 10 dollars a night (directions on my caye caulker page).

the cheapest accomodation would be hard to book in advance since itīs mostly so small it dosenīt have a webpage.

camping is also possible in a couple of places.

No need to worry... I had no problems there (2+ years ago) during the same time of year. though... I must warn you that Easter will pose a problem on Caye Caulker for sure. Both destinations offer cheap, plentiful accomodation.

I stayed in Caye Caulker a few times and there are many cheap accomodations. I stayed at the Costa Maya Cabanas and they do have a website and can be booked ahead of time. They were cheap, in fact the owner gave me a special rate as I was staying two weeks. There is a lot to do there, please see my Caye Caulker page for information.
