Kuredu Kuredu: Beach Villa or Water Villa?
Posted: Mon January 12, 2004 02:44 PM UTC
Hi. I am hoping to go to Kuredu for 2 weeks All Inc in October 2004 for my honeymoon. SO far the best deal I have found is with bestattravel.co.uk, quoted scheduled flights with qatar airlines, seaplane transfer beach villa £1,249pp, water villa£1,499.
With water villa you get sangu restaurant and bar. Can anyone tell me if food/service is better in the Sangu restaurant. Is it more secluded/romantic? Or is food same as other 2 main buffet restaurants? Is it worth the £250 extra for water villa?
Also can anyone recommend any other operatoir for a good deal? Thanks

I would definately reccomend that you pay the extra and get the water villa, the food/atmosphere/ service is much better in the sangu restaurant and bar and the water villas are to die for!- take a look at my maldives page and at the travellogues whereI have a whole section just showing the interior, exterior and situation of the water villas , Im sure once you have seen the photos it will make the decision much easier for you . Have a great honeymoon!

hI,
Some friends of ours went for their honeymoon to Kuredu and said to definitely book the Sangu water bungalow because they are lovely and also the restaurant is very good and you are not with loads of people.
They said that down where the pool is, is full of people and a little bit loud for the Maldives so they were glad they had booked the Sangu.
I have been to Meedhupparu which was lovely and also Sun Island which was brilliant as well.
We are off to Taj Coral Reef in April so I can't wait !
Hope that helps !

Hi,
Yes Best at Travel are probably the cheapest.
Eclipse are also cheap and Thomas Cook Tropical Shores are pretty reasonable too.
From talking to our friends who went in November I would definately book the Sangu water villa.
Kuredu is quite a busy Island and not as peaceful as most Islands so if you are looking for the ultimate peaceful honeymoon setting which is quiet and deserted don't go to Kuredu.
(Ask Dougals Mum for details, she offered me very good advice)
Our friends said they were really glad they had the Sangu restaurant & bar to escape to and they would have been disappointed if they had booked a beach villa.
The Sangu restaurant is aparently romantic but after what they said about the pool area being crowded I would be tempted to choose a smaller Island.
Sun Island was fantastic, if you are interested in it have a look on my pages. They have water villas and its really lovely.
Feel free to email me if I can help in any way.

When we went to Kuredu, we stayed in a Beach Bungalow and so ate in the main restaurant. We spent the whole holiday seeting with jealousy at the guests in the water villas, eating in the Sangu restaurant. DEFINATELY worth paying the extra as the Beach Bunglalows are a bit old and grubby now while the Water Bungalows are very new and clean.

Whatever you do, dont compromise on the sea-plane transfer as this is essential as the speed boat crossing is very long and if its a little rough on the sea then you can expect a bit of sea sickness. The plane transfer is much quicker and much more fun.
