If it is the Residence Dehon I found on the internet, on VIA LEONE DEHON 61-63, near the Villa Doria Pamphilj, and if the phone number is 06 6610041 (the "06" indicates Rome)...then you need to add the international dialing code, 011, and the country code for Italy, 39, and then the number, so it would be:

01139066610041

One zero too many - the 0 of the city code also has to be omitted.

Honestly, the easiest way is to take the document and phone number to your nearest UPS or FedEx store that has fax service. They do this all the time and can take care of all of it. Failsafe, no hassle . . .

Good luck.

Kathryn, I'm fairly sure that when telephoning Italy from the USA, you do not drop the "0" from the city/area code.

It is true that you drop the "0" for other European countries, like Germany, but not Italy.

See, for example, this explanation: http://www.slowtrav.com/italy/instructions/dialing.htm

Guys, isn't this the regular phone number for the hotel, not that fax number? Are we sure that a fax machine will answer on this line?

Eeek, Bill! You're absolutely right! The number I gave isn't the fax....it's the phone.

Here's the fax: 011 39 06 66 100 4243

In Italy the zero of the city code must always be dialed. No matter if it is of a phone or a fax.

Have you ever heard of efax? You can scan the document and it will make a file you can email over. Much cheaper.

One needs an email address to send it to, before email becomes better than a fax ;-)
