Barcelona Metro Travel Card T-10

I'll be going to Barcelona in the next few days for 1 week. I'm looking at the TMB metro website and have a question about the T10 card after looking at the description:

For example: It says that it's a multi person tkt with time limit. What does the time limit mean?

For T10 card for Zone 1, there is an entry "Time 1h 15". If I go use the ticket and within 1h 15 go to the metro again, does this mean that it is still the same "trip" and no trip will be deducted from the ticket?

Hi,

It means you have 1 hr 15 to complete your journey from the time you swipe it (and therefore time stamp it) at the start of your journey. In the case of metro journeys, if you leave the 'paid area' you will have to swipe it again to get back in. However if you start your journey on with the metro but then transfer to a bus a single swipe covers both legs as long as you are within the time limit

the '1h 15 min' limit is for making change/s from one mean of transport to another,
eg from metro to bus, from the bus to ANOTHER line /number bus or a tram or renfe train or FGC ,
up to 4 changes in 75 minutes.
IF you leave Metro area (barriers, turnstiles) and want to enter again, another trip WiLL be taken (the same for trains, even after 1 minute :)
Multipersonal means that eg 2 persons can go 5 times, or 5 - twice ,
or other combinations p + t = 10

Hi!

The T-10 card 1 zone can be used by more than one person, for taking all kind of public transports during 1h15m.

That means that during this time, you can pass this ticket (once per person) through the machines of different transports and it would be discounted only 1 trip per passenger.

If you take the T-10 card with more zones, the time that you can use it it's increased. For example, I live in Sitges, so I use the 3 zones card and I have 1h45m for taking different transports without any extra cost.

If you're going to be in Barcelona for a week, the T-10 card it's your best option for moving around the city.

Hola!
Exactly what you mean is a bit confusing to me, however, let me tell you what I have been doing these past few weeks. We live not too far from Parc Guell and when there are just few items I need to pick up at Boqueria (the wet market) then I would take the Linea 3 or the Green Line Metro to Liceu where the market is located and rush and pick up my days meal, such as few pieces of fishes, vegetables and few pieces of meat, then I do a bit of walking all the way to Plaza Catalunya and pick up the public bus using the transfer. Of-course I have one hour and 15 mins lapse so in short the computer system is not program in such a way that I can use just paying one fare.

If I understood you well, it does not matter what zone 1 or 2 or whatever (that is really just more confusing as no one really pays that much attention to zone's in particular, what must concern you is if you wish to use the transfer after a train / metro ride, on your transfer you need to take the bus and NOT A TRAIN so you can you can take advantage of the transfer.

You are correct about multi - person ticket. There are ten rides of that T10 card and yes the computer system will allow and recognized that there are more than just one person using the ticket, so, that is allowed and it is legal having you plus nine other passengers use just one and same T-10 ticket.
It is advisable that you try not to bend your ticket that way the machine reads it with no problems.

Incidentally if your flying in Barcelona you can also purchase that T-10 right at the airport train station, there are 2 or 3 machines available for the same price as the ones sold in the city.

Hi again,

The philosophy of the T-10 card is that you can change from one public transport to another, including the train, without any extra cost. Besides, the same card can be used by more than one person.

The only restrictions are, by one side, the time. For example, if you use the T-10 card 1 zone again after 1h15m a new trip will be taken off from your card.

The other restriction is that you can't use the same transport twice, for example, if you go outside of the metro and in this moment you notice that you're at the wrong place, you have to go again into the metro station, then a new trip will be taked off too from your card.

About the zones, the 1 zone card is more than enought for moving through Barcelona, anyway, here you have the zones map http://www.atm.cat/pdfs_cat/A3ATM_Global.pdf
