Hello,
I would like to know what situation is currently in Somalia, mainly Mogadishu or other sea-cities. You see, my relatives are moving to Mogadishu or other city near the sea. Therefore, I would like to know how Somalia is nowadays, what about living coniditions? any info is appreaciated.
Btw, can anyone recommend me any good webpage with PHOTOS of Mogadishu or ither cities? Thank you in advance.

Just a common advice: Ask CIA, they are often wrong, as we saw in the present Iraq-war, wrong all around, but their guys can find out the basic things of a country, if the whole matter doesn't get too much jamesbondy...

I was there in March 2003. It was calm when I was there, however, I do want to advice that the situation is unstable. As a foreigner, you need to arrange guards or you will be kidnap in no time. Don't go out at night, and only stay in hotels with good reputation (there were incidents where visitors got kidnapped in the middle of the night).

Just had a look at the Africanbrides page: yes, they are stunning. It's no surprise that an Ethiopian reached the semi-finals of the Miss World contest last year.

I am not sure if some of the racist comments given here are applicable, but as analyst on African affairs, I consider Somalia extremely dangerous - specially Mogadishu is even unsecure for its natives let alone foreigners.

Before the civil war, Mogadishu was one of the safest places in Africa; still the people of Somalia and hospitable to their guests - BUT be aware of the gangs.
