I can't find any flights from Oaxaca to Huatulco or Puerto Escondido that cost less that $400 round trip. They all go via Mexico City and take four to five hours. I've looked into Expedia and Travelocity and tried Mexicana's website to no avail. Any ideas?

I flew from Oaxaca direct to Puerto Escondido with Air Caribe (or Aero Caribe) which is a subsidary of Mexicana or AeroMexico - can't remember which one!. It takes about 30 minutes and we paid about US$120 one way, if I remember correctly. We also bought the ticket the day before we flew in Oaxaca itself.

Two different smaller airlines fly roundtrip from Oaxaca -- Aero Tucan (www.aerotucan.com) & Aero Vega (at Hotel Monte Alban in Oaxaca city). Both have reasonable rates ~ around $80/US to Puerto Escondido & slightly higher to Huatulco.

SAVE YOURSELF 350 AND TAKE BUSES. THE EXPREIENCE IS FREE AND YOU WILL GET THERE WITHOUT MUCH DIFFICULTY - MOST BUSES HAVE MOVIES TOO (IN ENGLISH)

You can use a small charter company called Aerotucan. www.aero-tucan.com.
Also, they will soon extend operations, flying form Huatulco to Palenque and Tuxtla Gutierrez.
