| Nong Khai | Nong Khai Bus Terminal to Bangkok Posted: Thu December 18, 2003 04:39 AM UTC
Was wondering if anyone knows how much it will cost me to take a bus from the Airport in Bangkok and ride it to Nong Khai Bus Terminal. I was also wondering on how long it will take me for this ride. Thank you for reading my questions.

For bus from BKK to Nong Khai , you must go to Morchit or NE Bus Terminal first. Then find one for you trip. There're both ordinary bus and air con bus.
Ordinary bus 's about 180 Baht (10-11 hours) Air con bus 're : VIP 545 Baht / Class 1 351 Baht (9 hours The other easy way, you can get a train (Train Sation 's just opposite the airport) to Nong Khai . But the departure time'd be check before. Patt

I would DEFINITELY recommend the train over the bus. Although the bus is certainly faster, you run the risk of experiencing a rather terrifying ride that could quite easily result in a fatal accident. Thai bus drivers are notorious and take extraordinary risks to keep to their schedules. Bus accidents are very frequent as any reader of the Bangkok Post can attest to. When I'm in the country I either take the train or fly; I only use buses if there is absolutely no other option. I made the mistake of taking a bus on a longish run from Bangkok to Sukhothai once long ago and vowed never again. I survived, but there were moments. Imagine driving at night without lights? Passing (overtaking) on blind corners with no guard rails? That's the kind of thing you may experience. Add to that the almost inevitable stereo or video blaring at full volume for the whole trip... yoicks! I'd really rather not.

Hey,
If I were you, I would definetely take the train in Bkk. You can take a train at 21.00 PM and you'll arrive at 10.00 AM in Nongkhai. For a sleeping wagon, with airco you'll have to pay 1200 baht. It's comfortable and easy and that expensive. U can have meals on the train also. Be sure to book ticket in time and ask for a window seat. That way you'll have more room to strech your legs at night!! ;-) Happy travels, Tatie

There is one bus per day direct between BKK airport and Nong Khaii, but it's quite expensive. You might want to consider saving a lot of time over bus or train and buying a Nok Air or Air Asia plane ticket to Udon Thani, then getting a bus for the last hour of the trip. A plane ticket might even work out cheaper than a VIP bus or air-con train sleeper if you book well in advance.
