How much does the festival cost? how long are the tickets good for?

I am trying to find some basic info on the Ice Festival we will be arriving on January 24. How much does each venue cost to see the sculptures is how does it work? Do you get a ticket that you have to carry around with you is there a gate you walk in and will we have to pay each day/time we visit? Even though I have been doing a lot of research I haven't come across a clear explanation on prices.

Have you checked out my VirtualTourist Harbin travel page (http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/1d57/f8323/)?
The prices typically are set every year. The big "Snow and Ice World" costs 150 RMB, the Snow Expo (snow sculptures) on Sun Island costs 120 RMB and the Ice Sculptures at Zhaolin Park costs 55 RMB. The last one is typically more expensive after about 1530 or 1600 as they'll turn on the lights.
Yes, you do get a ticket for each of those 3 places. It's a one-off admission ticket so if you go out and want to come in again you'll have to buy a new ticket!

Hi how are you? I went to the Ice Festival in 2008 and it cost 150yuan and the Snow festival was about about the same. I will go again when I arrive in Harbin next Wednesday. I think that it's just for one entry I am not sure but maybe you can join a tour, because if you are then after dark or closing time for the Ice Festival the taxi drivers will try to charge you 100 yuan or more, which is how they get you because they all gang up on you cause it's a long walk back to the city.

Zhaolin Park is in town, the other two are farther away. The prices I quoted are current for 2010.

I was in Harbin just last weekend for the Ice and Snow Festival.

Entrance to the the Ice Lantern Festival is 200 RMB per person, to the Sun Island Snow Festival is 150 RMB and to the Zhaolin Park Disney Snow Festival is RMB 50 during the day, RMB 100 when they turn lights on.

Tickets are different for the different parks and, in all cases, valid for one entrance. You can stay in the parks as long as you like until closing time.

The Ice Lantern Festival is the most notable as well as the most complicated to reach as the most distant from the city center. Many hotel offer free shuttle bus service and you may want to use that. If not, use a taxi. On the way back, taxi drivers will wait for customers at the exit gate and will depart to the city only when they pack the car, overcharging customers. As reference, I paid RMB 40 for two in a car with other two.

To reach the Sun Island Snow Festival, you can use the cable car at 50 RMB one-way (100 RMB Return) for foreigners, more expensive but more interesting than taxis.

The Zhaolin Park Disney Snow Festival is in the City Center at walking distance from Main Street.

Enjoy Harbin!
Giuseppe
