Kayaking
Posted: Tue November 24, 2009 08:32 AM UTC
I've really keen to kayak as much as possible when i'm out in NZ and i've noticed it's really common to just hire a kayak and go out for a couple of hours. Does anyone know what a typical hiring fee would be, or do most places rent them out for free?

Thanks ;)

No, most places do not rent kayaks our for free.
Some rates here:

http://www.oceanriver.co.nz/

Most rentals are guided, but I have hired kayaks on lakes without guides. Some rent by the hour and others by the half day.
Depends if you want sea kayaks, or lakes or river?

One of the coolest place to do a kayak trip in NZ is in the Abel Tasman National Park. This is an all inclusive tour of the park taking you from bay to bay. Check out my page of the same name for more information.
Cheers,
Rhianon
