has anybody stayed in the river inn hotel. its cheap i was wondering if it is any good?

i stayed in regency hotel in hatyai last time. regency is just okay with reasonable price.

thanks i might end up in the regency. looking for something cheap as i am arriving late & leaving early next morn. i was wondering is it easy to walk into a hotel in hat yai at around 10 - 10.30pm & book a hotel

i scrapped the idea of going to phrang nga from hat yai opting for krabi instead i can have a look round there before it gets too late in the day

Chris - I'll try to find that place and check it out for you. Regarding your question about just turning up at 10pm and finding a room, it depends what day it is.
Hat Yai goes crazy at weekends with tourists - mainly Chinese Malaysian. If you turn up on a Friday or Saturday you could have a problem. If it's a Tuesday or Wednesday you will find somewhere easily.

The hotel is OK. It's quite large and a little way out of the centre of Hat Yai. The advantage is that it should be quieter than a lot of the places here but the downside is that there is a 10 minute walk to the centre of town.
The rooms are quite typical for hotels in the mid-range 500 Baht a night category. Nothing luxurious but quite adequate and a big step up from the backpacker style guest houses. I've added some pics and descriptions in the appropriate place on my Hat Yai page.
