Anybody know of anything exciting going on for New Year's Eve (12/31)? Any parties/VT meetings in Tainan or Kaohsiung???

It's always boring.
What I tend to do is get on my motorcycle and explore the countryside. From Tainan, you can take a trip over the Southern cross Island highway and visit Taitong,possibly Green Island/Orchid Island, Kenting on the way back round the bottom of the island. Or you could head up through Alishan and into Nantou country, cross the central Cross island highway to Hualien (really nice city btw) passing Taroko Gorge on the way. These are fairly rugged routes though so make sure your bike is up to it. also if you break own people will be pretty reluctant to do anything during the holiday period. yeah, i was more thinking of 12/31... maybe i'll just go to a pub too... which pub do you go to? what city are you in again???
i'm going to hualien for xmas, but have to a lot of other places in taiwan already... ironically enough, i haven't been to kenting yet. wow, taiwan's really small... :(

I'm in Tainan. I did go to an outdoor rave party up in Maolin one year that was pretty good.
Pubs? I frequent a few of them. i don'tm really have a 'local". There's a list on my Tainan page. Tainan's nightlife is a bit boring compared to Kaohsiung.

i went to a rave up in taipei about 4 years back. unfortunately it was stopped by the police... but we ended up starting the party back up at 7 in the morning, certainly disrupting everyone's tai ji quan in the park haha...
a lot of the foreigners i know go to willy's, but i don't go... i generally hang around the new mitsukoshi and watch movies. i'll be back in tainan next week. maybe we should meet up!
