Worry wart me....
Posted: Thu August 20, 2009 05:14 AM UTC
So many nights I cannot sleep because my mind won't let me. My body says it
is tired and I go to bed. Then the mind takes over and I lie awake all night worrying about something/anything. Even the slightest thing can worry me and keep me awake. So, do you find this true in your life? What do you worry about? big things? little things? I like to worry about big, small, significant, and insignificant. :-( How do you stop this/ what works?

There was a time were too many things complicating my life.
So much that I had to give up worrying on the things that filled my head as tomorrow would bring bigger ones.

That coupled with just tackling the bigger problems individually helped me cope.
Today I find nothing worries me.

Sleep is never lost on tomorrows problems.

A very wise man once told me not to worry about things that are out of my control (and really, most things are). Unfortunately this is easier said than done. The same thing happens to me - as soon as my head hits the pillow my mind starts thinking a million things. I think some people are just wired this way (my mind never shuts down) and don't think there's anything to do but live with it. Just make sure that your sleeping environment is nice - right temperature, good mattress, nice bedding - so at least you'll be comfortable while you're awake and worrying.
;-))

After a few days of sleepless nights worrying, I find I'm so tired I then sleep well and then it all starts up again.

I've given up on worrying - que sera, sera!
I got myself into trouble with money over a decade ago - not too much - but enough for a kick in the right direction.
Then I had a health scare a few years ago now - put everything into perspective. Now, I live for the day, the minute, the hour, the week, whatever the timeframe is at that time - and allow Mother Nature, Fate and The Powers That Be to do their best - and hope they don't try their worst!

Had much the same problem most of my life. The only thing that ever helped me was retiring.

Today, finally, if I can't sleep I get up, read a book, have a hot drink, play on the internet whatever - I am retired and can go to sleep when I become so tired that my body overrules my busy, busy brain...usually about 6 in the morn9ing.

Hello there,
I love to read and I have to read before going to sleep. It also helps when I cannot sleep because of issues nagging me. I loose myself in the story and my own worries go to the background.

Perhaps it works for you,

Good luck,

A ggod idea is to start going to the gym or go on long walks! This always works! Also eat light food before you sleep and get early!

With age it seems I sometimes have trouble sleeping; seems to come in cycles. If into the 2nd hour of tossing and turning, I then either get a book or put on the TV til I am unable to keep my eyes open.

BUT, worrying is NEVER a problem --- learned years ago, just as 'lindasued' said, I give it all to God; and HE does a most marvelous job with it!!!

Hi again.....I did check in yesterday to read everyone's responses, but I was so busy with the activities that I had been worried about the night before that I could not take the time to answer in here. Yesterday went well......still
some "wrinkles" to work out, but overall pretty good day. As usual, so much of what we worry about does not materialize. And yes, prayers do wonders for a worrying mind. I find myself praying a lot late at night and find a peace that surrounds me. Have a blessed and worry-free day....
