Hai,
There is a place in kerala near guruvayoor called punathurkotha, which is a place where elephants are looked after.
Here you can see the elephants bathe, eat, etc.,
but going on a ride on it, i dont know, as i did not take any ride.
This place is not in a forest, but only elephants given as gifts to the guruvayor temple are kept.

There is another place in karnataka, near nagarhole, which is very near to mysore,
called "murkal".

I had been to this place just last week.
This place is just inside the nagarhole forest, and u need prior permission from the forest dept to stay here.
There are cottages and dormitary for staying, but u have to cook yourself.,
and the most important thing is, there are no provision shops or any other shop to buy vegetables etc.
Infact you have to go a good 20kms towards hunsur or H.D.jote for rations,
One more thing there is no electricity here, no mobile connections nor telephones.
If you want more details I can provide with them.

Here elephants are trained, given bath

Hi,
I know a place not so far from Kochi. Its called Kodanad - its an elephant orphanage of sorts. Please check the link below for more details. You can go early in the morning and watch the elephants have a bath in the nearby river and if you give the caretaker some money you can even help them scrub the lil ones with a coconut shell. Its an awesome experience.Would def recommend it. Although,I heard that recently they stopped letting ppl touch the elephants as some of them developed an infection.Check before you go.
