Machu Picchu Should I spend the extra night in Aquas Calientes?

I am hiking the Inca Trail and have been given the opportunity to spend an extra night in A. C.. Is it worth it to stay an extra night and perhaps to go back to see Machu Picchu a second day?

I would not mind to do a second night at A.C.
you get more possibility to see M.P. in a sunny day and climb wayna picchu, first day you might feel tired to do after the trail.

Yes, I agree that you should take this opportunity for further exploration of the area.

Itīs according to your priorities. For me one day is enough (cause Iīve been there plenty of times) However itīs nice to have a second look of the area without so many people. Flora and fauna seems different early morning!

I was in Aguas calientes for 3 days/2 nights which i think was too much its a very small town. 2 days is enough.

There are other activites you can do in aguas calientes. if you want to relax you can go to the Thermal baths. something that i did and i am very happy that i did was that i climbed Putucusi. It is the mountain that is right in front of machu Picchu. the trail is amazing and you can get a bird eyes view of Aguas calientes as you climed. The best part is when you reach the top. you get probably the best panoramic view of Machu Picchu. There is a Museum at the base of machu picchu which i thought was very good for the information it gave(lots of reading). Kinda of expensive though. there is a waterfall that i didnt have a chance to go to.

From the main plaza

Putucusi = walk along the railroad tracks to the right from the plaza for about 1/2 a mile. Then you come to the trail entrance and its a 2 - 3 hour climb to the top. dont be afraid of the ladders XD.

Museum = Walk along the road(the one the buses use) to the right of the plaza and walk for about 20-30 minutes. cross the bridge and then go right and follow the dirt road for another 2-5 minutes.

thermal baths = walk along the road next to the river (against the current) i dont know how far it is i dont remember.

Hope this helps.
