Bangkok Travel Adventure in Bangkok and Pattaya
Posted: Sun July 5, 2009 10:40 PM UTC
My friends and I are planning on a trip to Bangkok by September of October of this year. But we haven't picked our hotel yet and the places where we would wanna go. But one thing for sure is, we'd like to go to pattaya and visit nongnuch and Mini Siam.

Can you please help find a secure, cheap, and clean accommodation. Preferrably close to MBK chatuchak and other shopping areas in bangkok.

In addition, can you please give me an option on where or how we can go to Pattay without costing us that much.

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Look at my Bangkok and pattaya pages for hotel information and look at the transportation links for cheap travel into Bangkok and to Pattaya. For cheaper travel to Pattaya, other than the limo services I describe, look at taking the Bus. If there are 3 or 4 people traveling the limo may not cost so much.

As for picking a hotel in Bangkok, just stay near the skytrain and you will have no problem getting to the markets and sites around town very cheaply. You will find you can use the skytrain or subway to avoid traffic and get close to where you want to go very quickly and cheaply. From the skytrain station, take a taxi. Taxis are relatively cheap in Thailand. I avoid the cute little Tuk Tuks. They are out to steal your money, and they are unsafe in Bangkok traffic.

I would pick a hotel that is close to Skytrain, near fun things to do at night, and near many restaurants. I usually pick the Sukhumvit area below soi 35. A soi is a side road with a number that starts at the highway, even is on the south side, odd on north. This is where the most restaurants within walking distance are located, IMHO.

Pattaya transport by bus:

1) Eastern Bus Terminal (Ekkamai) to Pattaya bus station on North Pattaya road, every 30 minutes, daily from 5am to 10pm. trip is about 2.5 hours. 1-way fare is 128 baht.

2) Northern Bus Terminal (Mor Chit skytrain station, same stop if ur going to Chatuchak)) to the Pattaya Bus Station on North Pattaya road every 30 minutes, daily from 5am to 7pm. 1-way fare is 100 baht.

Accom: checkout http://www.suk11.com/ they're near the skytrain in sukhumvit

..and yes don't forget to shop at MBK, love that place!

have fun!
