Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Lisbon to get to the place
Posted: Sun July 5, 2009 11:03 AM UTC
Hello.
I'm going to Lisbon in September the first time. Could anybody tell me what is a way better, more convenient and cheaper for one person with luggage from airport of Lisbon to Rua Bernardim Ribeiro?
What is an approximate price to take by taxi?
And what is the weather like in the middle of September usual?
Thanks for help.

The easiest way from the airport is to take the Aerobus, which is frequent and cheap. There are also 'ordinary' buses. There are bus stops outside Arrivals, and you can buy tickets from the drivers.

http://www.ana.pt/portal/page/portal/ANA/AEROPORTO_LISBOA_CNT/?AE_LS=181882&actualmenu=193248&cboui=181882

gives details and links for the buses, and info on taxis and Metro (you have to get a bus from the airport to the nearest Metro station).

For Rua Bernardim Ribeiro I think you would get off at the Aerobus Marques de Pombal stop.

It may be that one of the local buses would drop you nearer......perhaps another VT-er will know.

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&q=Rua%20Bernardim%20Ribeiro&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wl

will give you a streetmap.

Lisbon climate charts here, to give you a rough idea of what to expect:

As Leics mentioned, you can get the Aerobus which has a pick-up just outside the terminal. There is a rack in the front where you can place your luggage. The cost was Euro 3,50 per person. There were different stops through the city, with the last being the Cais do Sodre train station (which we took only a few weeks ago). Good luck and enjoy Lisbon.

from Lisbon Airport including the #91 [Aerobus] which connects to Marques Pombal, Restauradores, Rossio, Praca do Comercio.

I would take bus#22 to one or two stops before Marques Pombal, where #22 ends. The bus stop is just outside the airport at same bus-stop of aerobus. I would choose this one not only because the cost is almost half, but because #22 goes thru Av.Duque de Loulé which is much closer to R.Bernardim Ribeiro then Av.Fontes Pereira de Melo (and maybe less up-down walking... Lisbon is a little hilly)

taking #22 is also what I did from/to airport two weeks ago when I've been to Lisbon as my hotel was very close at Marques Pombal square.

Be aware that large baggage (eg suitcases) is no longer permitted on 'normal' buses but can be taken on the Aerobus 91, which has special luggage space inside.

That is an excellent point..and one which is not made clear at all on the airoprt website (nor the bus website, I don't think).
