I'm sure you've already dealt with the situation, but in the future, powdered hot chocolate is a tasty addition to coffee, if you have any of that around.

Pick up some of those tiny flavored containers of (pseudo milk?) and keep on hand. My wife even carries some in her purse to flavor up bad coffee on the road.

Allison, There is a football question in the United States travel forum that I'm sure you would have some advice on being a Mountaineer graduate.

Yes, you may have some of my virtual milk, if only to demonstrate the Glaswegian generosity of spirit so often said to be lacking in our dear capital city :)

Hello! Could you possibly borrow some extra?? Me too, I'm back from the countryside. We stopped somewhere in a small shop so that my mother nad brother could leave the Lotto game (5 million euros, we didn't win..). And my mother got the milk for her coffee.
I knew I had no milk in the house, but I thought I'd go and do the shopping in my area here. Before the shops close at 9pm.
Well...they close at 9pm on weekdays and on Sundays (only in summertime and with retristrictions)..Today is Saturday and the shop is closed at 6pm.
Serves me right.
I went to a kiosk instead and got a bottle of sugar-free cola instead.I have plenty tea in the house so I can brew a nice cup of tea instead.
But I'm smiling now....the same happening to me..:)
regards,
Soili

I hate waking up in the morning, making my coffe and only to find there is no milk. I have thought of buying coffemate (that powdered stuff that turns to glue) but I really don't care for it and then it repeats later. For some reason with no milk in my coffee I almost react as if no coffee at all with withdrawal. Maybe I'm addicted to milk and caffeine both. :D

Mostly by people who know no better, as with most stereotypes. It isn't my view, merely a tongue-in-cheek cultural reference.

maybe I should give up the addition of milk, and try to get my taste buds around the black stuff?

No! Milk has calcium and some protein, and coffee has antioxidants, so you're making your coffee a little healthier if you add milk. I'd say keep enjoying it the way you like it, but maybe keep powdered milk (not the powder creamer, actual milk powder) around in case of emergencies, if it's available where you are.
