Hi everyone:

Is there any area in Bergamo I should avoid regarding the hotel? I look for a place close to the centre, station and bus/train to/from Orio airport (maybe it's a too obvious question)

I've been doing research for a trip in September and havent found anything to suggest the train station area is one to avoid (just the usual observations about areas around train stations). I have chosen a hotel directly across from the train station - mainly because I'll be arriving on a late flight into Orio, and the airport bus stops outside the train station so I'll only have to walk across the street. Details below, can't give a personal recommendation yet, but the reviews I've read are mostly good.

Yes, the airport shuttle goes to Bergamo train station. Looks a decent service for both early and late flights - have a look at this link for times/prices:

My wife and I have stayed in this hotel on 4 occasion as it is directly across the road from the train station. Very clean, efficient, multilingual staff and business breakfast. Shuttle bus fron the airport stops at the train station opposite the hotel. Many restaurants (MacDonalds 50 metres if you like) in the area and a regular bus service to Citta Alta.
