I have a Greek salad every day for my lunch so that is a bit of a treat in itself but sometimes I treat myself to a Subway Veggie Delight.

While we had hot hazy weather this week, my co-workers were pleased with the icecream I got them as last lunch item.

When I worked for a living with no formal lunch time break...Always had a packet of Vita-wheat and a jar of Vegemite in the brief case....no refrigeration required & vitamin B in the vegemite good for keeping mosquitoes at bay.

Hi Ann
Mine is pretty simple and boring .
Breakfast = two slices of bread Peanut butter on it and then Chocolate sprinkles on top of the beanut butter (like a Reeses peanut butter cup kinda)
For lunch two slices of bread and then lunch meat Ham or whatever with a slice of cheese on top .(booooorrring )
When on the road it gets better it could be anything like an egg sandwich or a subway sandwich or yes even a hamburger but that is rare ,me no like too many hamburgers .
My BIG belly is not from breakfast or lunches (or beer ) it is from Cookies and Candies .
I know way to much info ,but oh well c'est la vie mon cheri .

I guess I'm a bit lucky when it comes to breakfast and lunch. I work in a big factory and there is a huge kitchen inside where take-away breakfast and a proper lunch is prepared every day for around 4.000 people everyday. Plu, the menu changes everyday for lunch: We have three options to choose two dishes and a salad bar.

I mostly bring my lunch from home, too, but sometimes for a treat I'll buy a Cobb salad --bacon, hard boiled egg, blue cheese. All that artery-clogging good stuff.

Re: Lunch time treat Posted: Sat July 4, 2009 09:19 PM UTC
When at work I try to have something to eat. It's the same what students eat - and I try to choose the dark bread, no margarine on them as I need the salad dressing for my green salad mix. I try to avoid too many potatoes or too much rice and I drink a glass of water and a glass of milk.
For the dessert it can be a fruit or cooked sweet porridge of fruit or berries..(I don't know how to describe them at all in English).
Then after the dessert it is most often if there is time (and there is always time for a gettogether ) a cup of coffee with coleagues. Even without milk or sugar. Even without the cookies someone might have brought to all of us.
Now in summer I tend to have a take-away food TOO often. I really like my cup of coffee and a bowl of Caesaräs salad, chicken meat in it..
The local supermarket deli prepares it well enough for me.
regards,Soili, slim now a she was away from the shops and sweets and biscuits :)

For me, usually just a half-sandwich in winter, or a small salad in summer. Or maybe some soup. Hey, Ann, you're skinny as a rail. I will send you some BBQ-d ribs, fried chicken, and a whole cheesecake!

WoW! Didn't know that the UK and Auz had Subway. Here they have a 2" sub now that I love for breakfast or lunch on the run consisting of turkey, provolone, lettuce, spices, smidge of mayo and oil and vinegar. A treat..hmmm, lets see here. It would either be a trip to a seafood restaurant on the waterfront, a Philly cheese steak sub, or an Italian sub. ~

Seafood restaurant Zana? ....mmmm, now you're talking :o) When we go out for lunch at work my favourite is any pasta dish :o) ...or if I want something a bit lighter I usually go for the Bruschetta.
Hey Martha, I believe we are having a couple of yummy cakes....one could be a cheesecake on the big Saturday presentation night of the downunder meet mate. ...Maybe I don't have to twist your arm after all now ;o)

Ooohhh Anne! I love lunchtime treats!
Lets see, if I am out, it would be freshly made salmon or tuna sushi, or a "BLAT" which is bacon, lettuce, avocado & tomato on turkish bread, toasted.
If I am at home, if would be what ever was lurking in the fridge, maybe BBQ chicken, mayo, lettuce, tomato & cheese toasted inside a tortilla. Or home-made pumpkin soup.

The ultimate lunchtime treat (solo cooked) after a morning shift (in a household where "offal" is a four letter word): lambs fry, onion and bacon fry-up - tomato sauce and chicken stock gravy made on the pan residue. Have not had it for years (since she who must be obeyed retired).

Pedro, women & offal just don't seem to mix....
I love lambs fry but can't touch the stuff. Had a great boyfriend in Scotland many years ago who did a wicked lambs fry & bacon...I had forgotten about that!
But when it came to black pudding (& white pudding)..forget it!

my father just loved tripe! I had to do the tasting to see if it's ready - my mother couldn't stand ANY form of offal. Dear dad also had a penchant for a sheeps head. eeeew! remember seeing the various bits round the edge of his plate he discarded. Can still see 'the eyes'
also cow's lair.....etc

Re: Lunch time treat Posted: Sun July 5, 2009 09:11 PM UTC
depends on where I am and if I am dieting
here in the Charlotte area we have my 3 favories
1. Leo's - tuna salad in rye with some pickles and unsweet iced tea
2. Greens - 2 hot dogs all the way
3. Lexington BBQ - chopped pork bbq with slaw
if I am on vacation in Europe, a glass or 2 of wine is a must
