All right folks, I need serious help from the community ... I am taking a very special girl on a date in Shanghai on next Saturday night. I am on the search of a cozy, romantic, not usual restaurant. No need to be posh or luxurious and surely not one of those restaurants found on guidebooks and magazines, she knows them all! ... I need something different, romantic and cozy, that will make me stand out. Any good ideas?

Take her on a romantic night river cruise, not sure if any of those cruises will have a restaurant like those found in Sydney.

There is a small restaurant in an old French Concession on Changle road called the secret garden. Another place is the restaurant at the Heng Shan Moller Hotel. You can see more information on my Shanghai page.

I just got back from dinner in a restaurant that would have been very romantic, if i wasn't with three guys. Then name is Victorian Garden restaurant. It is located at 27 Shaoxing road, just a few blocks down from Huaihai Road.

The cool thing is they have great food and they make a black beer that isn't too bad.

Thanks to all those who have answered my posting! Eventually we went to the Restaurant "Bali Laguna" (Indonesian), in the Jing'An Temple area and it was perfect.

I didn't know that romantic restaurants exist in China...

They do, if you go with the right person, aren't too stingy, and have the right mindset!
