We are Disney Vacation Club Members, loved taking our kids to Orlando every year for the past 10... we stay at Boardwalk or Wilderness...
Now thinking it would be good to swap it for a week of skiing, maybe
a week in Hawaii~

What has been your timeshare experience??

Have had a Marriott Time Share in Orlando since 2002. We've stayed at our home resort once (great 3 bedroom 3 bath near Sea World), traded it for a resort stay in Phoenix in 2004 and traded it for Marriott points last year for 8 nights in great Marriott properties in London and Paris.

just to say glad timeshares are hitting it off well, I was one of the pioneers in the timeshare business in Florida, as accountant of a builder, before the disney and the marriotts got into it, which help improve the concept tremendously.

I "inherited" a timeshare in Acapulco Mexico that I have never been able to use, rent or sell. To me, I would just as soon get rid of the thing. of course, they must be wonderful as so many people buy them, but it's not my style and I feel "stuck".

Sounds like we have the full range of experiences posted here, good to bad.
I do like the pt. system over blocking out a week/year....
Marriott has nice properties, we looked at one at Park City and also in Orlando.
We have some friends that have 3 or 4 timeshares that they use and swap...
they bought those rather than a second home thinking they would rather see different places. Interesting idea.
