Missouri luxury resort Posted: Fri July 3, 2009 06:49 AM UTC
I wanted to take my Wife to the Greenbrier in West Virginia, but she has gotten very ill, and on the list for a transplant. She simply can't handle the travel, nor can we afford to be that far from the transplant center in Columbia MO.
I want to find a luxury resort in Arkansas or Missouri, with a very nice spa for her to relax in.
I want this to be the event of her life. Something she can hang onto through what lays ahead for her. Something she will never forget. I want her waited on hand and foot, with nothing to go wanting.
I realize it won't be cheap, but she has gone from a vibrant 42 year old, to a 46 year old that feels like her body is 100 years old. She worked with abused and neglected kids as a family services investigator, now she needs something for her.
Where would be a good place? What would be utter perfection? She needs a break so badly.

You might wish to visit the web site for the Lodge of the Four Seasons at the Lake of the Ozarks, in Missouri. They have a very highly rated spa, the Spa Shiki, on-site. They also have several restaurants. I'm sure their guest relations would be happy to help with making your stay as nice as possible. It isn't the Greenbrier, but not much else is either. You would be about 75 or 80 miles, one-way, from Columbia, around an hour and a half by car. Gary

Another possibility, in Branson, near the Missouri - Arkansas border, would be The Chateau at the Lake. They also have an on-site spa. Gary

You might look around the Hot Springs/ Eureka Springs areas of Arkansas. I was there several years ago and stayed in a supposedly "haunted hotel"- they had a spa called Half Moon, I think- I had the full spa treatment including hypnotism- I reemember it as a pleasant experience. While in Hot Springs we stayed in a hotel downtown- I was too busy with work to indulge in any spa treatments, but it seemed to me that the area was full of them.
Best of luck to you both. I sincerely hope you find the perfect place and have a fabulous time to remember.

You could also check SpaFinder.com: you just put in your zip code and it tells you all the different spas around.
You are an angel for looking out for her like this. I wish you the best.
