Re: VT maps? Posted: Thu July 2, 2009 06:30 PM UTC
If you are challenged, then I am too. :-(
I only know about personal travel maps. I believe one can 'export' these somewhere, somehow......but as I have nowhere (and no desire) to do said exportation I can help no further.
Know of no other maps.

Good to know. However, I tried it out and the links on the right hand side of the page for top cities in France, etc. don't go anywhere and the ERROR message comes up down on the bottom of the screen.

Nice one, G, thanks very much. I am like leics, all these years and I had never seen that.
I was looking for Suceava in Romania and I have found it now.
Thanks again.

Great....we have to fix the links of the pinpoints on the map, but the map itself works welL!

G, I just tried with Paris, the map came up but as Richie says (he's no longer connected) there is no response from the links on the right hand side.

From my experience, some of those side links went goofy about the same time as the "nearby locations" went into hiding. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but that's how it seemed to me .

But where have the "Nearby Locations" gone? I am really worried about them - I was very fond of them and they kept my geography up to speed.

Barbara, if you go to a location Travel Guide page, then click on "Things to Do"; "Nightlife"; "Local Customs" etc, then scroll down on the right side of the page, you can find "Locations nearby".
If the location has no tips built, then you can't find this feature.

The one major drawback to these interactive maps is that they can't be copied and pasted to take with.

Re: VT maps? Posted: Tue July 7, 2009 01:08 PM UTC
Well it's not ideal, but it is one way around not being able to save.
You open the map, and use:
Ctrl + Prt Scr - to basically copy the entire screen in front of you.
Alt + Prt Scr - to copy the popup, eg the map
(These take prints of what you see, including the browswer outers , whatever is visible on your screen. So anything that you will need to scroll down to view won't be included in the image).
Open a programme, such as "PAINT" , then paste the image into a new opened page.
If you don't know where PAINT is, try this:
START > Programs > Accessories> PAINT.
Then be careful how you save it. I recommend you save it as JPEG, to keep it's size manageable.
The PrtScrn key is found near the top right side of the keyboard. Of course all this is Microsoft. Not sure how to do it in Mac.
