Hello
I am probably not the first person to ask, but I need advise on where to stay in bangkok. Which region is the nicest (where are the backpackers) and do you know a nice hotel at $10-20?

thanks

Hi there.

The backpackers usually hang out in Khao San Road. Lots of cheap places to stay there, you should probably just go there and find a place you think look nice.

Here is a link to some hotels in the Khao San Road area.

There are a few places in the Sukhumvit Road area that are in your budget range. Suk 11 Hostel has some cheap places to stay at. Very popular with women travelers.

One advantage of the Sukhumvit area is easy access to the Skytrain. No Skytrain in the KSR area. Cheapest places will be dorms and rooms with only fan cooling.

If you arrive during the day hours or even the early evening hours then you can probably find a place pretty easy during low season. Close to Christmas, high season less easy. If you arrive real late at night around midnight it might be better if you have a definite destination to head for, at least one night, instead of wandering around a strange city in the dark.

Good luck.

i stay just off koh san rd on rambuttri but acros from koh san not same side as it, you get me whenyou find your way around. but koh san road itself is very noisey and not much sleeping gets done down that rd.
last time i stayed at the rambuttri village inn. good prices and good size rooms. and even has a roof top pool.
