Question Posted By: Replies:
stupid question about photos
Posted: Wed July 1, 2009 09:41 PM UTC
I copied some of my photos I had posted on a website into a Word document, then deleted the photos from the website.

The photos are now saved where I can see them in a Word document, but I can't think how to copy them as separate images.

A simple cut and paste of the image gives me a 'scrap' file which is still lodged within a Word document.

Any idea how do I get ahold of the jpg file or have I lost my chance??

I don't know if there is a way to get them out of the Word doc, but I would like to hear if there is. Meantime you can to a screen capture and crop out the photo and save as jpeg.

I had a word file like this which someone sent me as a contribution to a newsletter.

If you select the image in Word, and right click it, you should get a menu which includes the option 'Bitmap Image Object' [or maybe something slightly different depending on the original file type], but if you select this you should have the option to open it in image editing programme and save it as a jpg. At least it works for me in Office 2007.

That makes sense Sally. I wonder if it saves in the same reso as the original that was embedded. I'll give it a try :-)

(1) Right click the picture
(2) Choose 'Format picture'
(3) on 'Size' tab, choose 'Reset'
(4) on 'Picture' tab, choose 'Reset'
(5) 'OK'
(6) Right click the picture again
(7) Choose 'Copy'
(8) Paste into a picture maker program. NB MS Paint seems to have a maximum width of 511 pixels.
(9) 'Save as' etc.
[(10) Close the original document without saving]

I think you should be able to justt right click on the image, select save as, and it then is found where ever you saved it to on your pc (documents, pictures, desktop)

Thank you all for your suggestions. Perhaps it's my version of Word, but right-clicking did not offer the 'save as' option.

Thankfully I tracked down my photos on another site and made sure this time to copy them direct onto my PC!
