Is there a place in Oberwesel to rent a car so I may drive through the wine country?

Oberwesel is too small for car rentals. Most visitors rent their car at Frankfort airport, where there is great selection at bargain prices. Car rental is also available in nearby Weisbaden, Mainz, and Frankfort.

Is it easy to find your way from the Frankfurt Airport to Oberwesel, I would really like to drive the country side, but I never have been to Germany nevermind Europe and I find it a little scary to get lost. planning to stay at the castle for 3 nights then take the train to Amsterdam.

If you have never been to Germany, let alone Europe, I would suggest a GPS when you rent a car. Also study up on your European traffic regulations and signs. They are a little different.

The GPS will save you time and frustration.

I agree with renting a car in Frankfurt since it is probably easier to get a train to Amsterdam from there too, vs in a small town.

If you have a good map, the roads are very well marked in Germany. Alternatively, you could rent a car with a GPS system.
