Madrid From and to Parque Warner
Posted: Tue June 30, 2009 02:00 PM UTC
Hello!

I'm going to Madrid just to visit Warner Parque this time, I've a early flight and then a late flight from Barajas on the same day.

I'm looking from some advices in how to reach and then return from Warner Parque to the Barajas Airport.

I thought of renting a car if there are any low cost car rentals in Madrid. I'm not going alone so that could even be cheaper then that metro and train.

Thank You

I guess that you have already worked out the cost etc of using the Metro & Train.
Seems to me the best way to go. I think the cost of the Metro to Nuevos Ministerios is €4 return, and the Cercanias is €10. So that's 14 per head. Even if you are 4 in the party, I don't think you could get a rental for that price. more like €200 per day in my reckoning. The distance from the airport to Parque Warner is around 45 mins to one hour by car. Using Metro & Train you may possibly achieve it within 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

the park is in the south of Madrid at San Martin de la Vega, you can take the car but for one day, less paperwork and cheaper will be the bus or cercanias train.

bus
No 412A from the interchange station at Villaverde Bajo Cruce on line 3 of Metro. take the La Veloz (fast bus) direct to park.
meaning for you from Barajas, take Line 8 to Nuevos Ministerios, then line 10 to Noviciados, and here take line 3 to Villaverde Bajo Cruce bus depot.
you can also take circular metro line 6 at Nuevos Ministerios and go all the way around city to Legazpi ,then take the bus there to park. The second choice will keep you seated in the metro longer and more rest.

cercanias train (suburbs)
From Atocha take line C3 direction Aranjuez ,get down in station reads Parque de Ocio. In your case, take the metro line 8 frm airport to Nuevos Ministerios, there connect to cercanias train to Atocha train station, and change at town of Pinto, then you reach the park in about 40 mins.

I prefered buses to train in your choice, car is nicer but coming in and out of airport better take the bus.Hope it helps

I think the CERCANIAS line C3 goes through NUEVOS MINISTERIOS (starts at Chamartin) according to timetable and you need to change at PINTO for the branch line to Parque Warner station that is called Parque de Ocio.
I think all the information is here:

Buy an Abono Regional Turístico de Transportes in Barajas (tourism office, newspaper kiosk, or metro station). This will be valid on Metro de Madrid, RENFE and bus services - one day costs 5.20 euros per person within the metropolitan area of Madrid, 10.40 for the whole of the Comunidad Autónoma de Madrid, together with toledo and Guadalajara. Even for four people, still cheaper and less hassle than hiring a car, and the road traffic in and around Madrid is horrendous.

So is the pollution from exhaust fumes!
