My travel pages
Posted: Mon June 29, 2009 03:24 PM UTC
Hi all

I want to create pages and tips on several places we've been to.
But as I am making a list of these places, I am wondering what to do :
for example in Austria : we've been to a lot of places (haven't put them all in my map yet) where most of the times we've only visited 1 specific thing there. Should I create a page with 1 tip on it for each place or should I just put all the tips on a page on the global "Bundesland Salzburg" being the larger area ?
Would it be too much if you are looking for something to click on different pages with 1 tip on each page ?
And if I create the pages for each individual place, do they show when you look for info on "Bundesland Salzburg" or only when you look for that specific place ?

I hope this is clear and that you know what I mean ?!
Thanks for the info !

What you could do is write the individual pages and then an overall Bundesland Salzburg page and link the individual paages from it. That way you cover all aspects.

I agree. If someone is looking for info on a particular place they will first look under the individual place name, not the region/general area.

Individual tips for individual places are best put under that place name....I expect you've got a photo you could put up for the main page intro with just a couple of lines of text?

Then make an overall Bundesland Salzburg page, which will include all the other pages in its sub-category anyway.

I agree with John too. I have done something similar with my Lago Maggiore page - I posted there some short tips about places to see around the lake, and in some tips I inserted hyperlinks to the other pages I had created for the specific locations.

Yes - I agree - I really have no time for pages with lots of Tips intoa single country heading, and there are quite a few of these on VT. If I am going to Aquitaine I really do not want to search the whole of France for Tips on accommodation or restaurants. So I thinks it is better to write a very short and simple introduction page + your Tip.

I do the individual places even with only one tip, but if I made daytrips from a larger central location (like if you stayed in Salzburg and went to the salt mines or something), then I also put the tip under the main city in the area - sometimes as a Thing to Do and sometimes as Off the Beaten Track (depending on how I feel about it)

Then for the overall country, I made a tip for each of the various areas, with links.
