You could change few hundred pounds at the airport for immediate need.

There are money changers all over goa, but better to be careful and change money whenever required at Madgaon(its the closest town from Cavelossim)or Panjim which will have authorized money changer shops.

If you search the internet you will get the locations of authorized money changers in Madgaon and Panjim.

Most of the established outlets accept credit/debit cards as well, but be aware that many outlets in india dont accept master cards and amex(american express) credit cards.

Hope the above info helps

Change your money in the town, because the exchange rate will be better than at the airport...

Only change a maximum of about £20 at the airport to get you through initial requirements. The exchange rate at the airport is usually about 7 or 8 rupees less than you will get in your resort. Most hotels will charge you between 2 and 3 rupees to the pound commission. You will find several shops in Cavelossim that will gladly change British £10 and £20 notes at slightly better rates than the hotels. If you do go into Margoa, try the local busses, which will cost you about 20p for the 12 mile journey. There are numerous money changing facilities in the city including a branch of Thomas Cook right in the centre square. There are also quite a number of unofficial money changers in Margoa, from whim you will usually get even better rates.

Hope this is of assistance,

Dave

Best is to exchange in a bank (preferred State Bank) for best rates. Some airports have counters of State Bank
