Very Specific Bangkok question Posted: Mon June 29, 2009 04:00 AM UTC
I have posted the same question for Singapore but also considering Bangkok...please don't delete either.
I am looking for a very specific Bangkok experience...not one like that...and I want to let you all know what I am looking for and maybe you can direct me in the right direction.
First I am looking for a decent hotel close to any beaches, if possible.
Second I want to know of a decent casino that has a Texas Hold'em card room.
Third and last I would like to be close to the night life, clubs/bars etc etc.
Basically I want to hang on the beach during the day, gamble some at night, and go to the clubs at night. Any help would be great.

No beach in Bangkok! Lots of nightlife though! No legal casinos!
(You didn't include the Philippines, they have casinos in Manila and some nightlife but no beach!)
Nearest beach to Bangkok is Pattaya - great nightlife - beach no good for swimming only good for walking, sunbathing, bars, restaurants, malls and street vendors. Many hotels have pools. Pattaya has a lot of nightlife plus cheap hotels and cheap transportation! No casino though!
(Many Thais go to Burma and Cambodia for casino action.)
Have fun.

Absolutely no legal casinoes in Thailand. Besides the government lottery and Bangkok Thai Boxing locations, gambling is illegal in Thailand.
If you want to gamble on cards, go to Poipet in Cambodia just four hours from Bangkok. The casinoes are also hotels.

There are rows upon rows of hotels along the beach of Pattaya, a couple of hours away from Bangkok, cleaner waters can be found on the far end at Jomtien beach. Nightlife is more on the centrum, no casinos though.

There are only a few ways to get into serious trouble in Bangkok. A foreigner, getting involved in gambling, is one of them. If you find yourself a game, odds are you will be the object of it!

Oooh Rah!! Devil Dog!
As stated by other posters, unfortunately not in Bangkok, the Texas Hold'em aspect of it. But nightlife is there, Alive! and Well! Once you're there, you'll have a very unique Bangkok experience(s). Yes, it'll be "one like that." No doubt about it.
Beach you desire? Head down to Pattaya. Once you go there, you might not want to leave anytime soon. And I'm not talking about the beach either.

You heading for the wrong country if you want to gamble. I agree with Curt. If you do get offered a trip to a "private casino" the ONLY guarantee is you going to loose...and a hell of a lot more than you bargained for... I have heard people say that life can be a "beach" in Bangkok... Clubs a plenty...but some might say you rewards might be the biggest gamble you have taken in a while.
Enjoy the trip
