Milwaukee SWIMMING
Posted: Sun June 28, 2009 08:41 PM UTC
I'm new to Milwaukee and trying to find somewhere to jump off something high into water, like a cliff or something similar. Are there any rock quarries or cliffs around? Not really interested in diving boards.

You probably won't find any spots along Lake Michigan. Pretty much all of the cliffs have sand or rocks at the bottom.

I'm not sure if they really "approve" of people hurling themselves off the edge, but Lannon Quarry in Menomonee Falls is a pretty nice park with a beach and lots of good cliffs surrounding the water.

If you want to go a little further, Devil's Lake has similar features.

Max's suggestions are great. I would recommend both those places as well.

There's also a park called Redgranite Quarry which is about 2 hours northwest of Milwaukee. That is a great place to go swimming or diving. It's free and open to the public.

There is a quarry in Racine Wisconsin... about 30 minutes south of Milwaukee where people go cliff jumping. I'm not entirely sure if people jump during operating hours but it's definitely there. Let me know if you want more info.
