You don't have to limit yourself to the Chatuchak area because with the Skytrain you can stay in areas where there are more choices for hotels and more things to do in the evening.

There is some hotels for that area on this link:

If you stay at the Suk 11 Hostel you can use the Skytrain from the Nana Skytrain stop. The Skytrain can take you to the WEEKEND market.

Maxims has a wifi connection, close to Nana Skytrain, restaurants, travel agencies, malls and street vendors. Bangkok Inn, not far from Maxims.

Three other hotels near the Bangkok Inn, the Business Inn, the President Inn and the Narry Inn, all with rooms under 1000 baht, private toilet/shower including air!

Good luck.

Previous advice all good. If you really need to stay at a hotel close to Chatuchak market (open weekend ONLY) then I can recommend the following hotel which I stayed at in 2006 and 2007 which is a 5 minute walk to the skytrain (Sapan Khwai). Nice Palace, Soi Inthamara,1/1 Suthisan Rd, double, aircon, cable tv, Ph 279 2400. I stayed here specifically to be close to Chatuchak and the airport.
